A weekly walking tour to the Cleveland Pools offers a unique insight into the history of the Pools. The circular route which starts at Abbey Green at 11am every Tuesday - returning in just under two hours - is being supported by Bath Tourism Plus.
If you would like to bring your visiting friends, or family, on this walking tour, please contact the Bath Visitor Centre direct to purchase a ticket. It won't break the bank at £8 per head, and all proceeds go directly to the Cleveland Pools Trust. The tours are on their website, and the Bath App, under Attractions>>Historic Sites.
Our guide is trustee Sally Helvey who already runs her own private tours - "BATHwithSally/City.Secrets" - so do reward her with a 'Like' on her own Facebook page. She would love that !
Update: Sally is now taking her tours into retirement homes and clubs where people would otherwise find it difficult to come to site. See the album marked 'TALKS' for more details.
Former trustee Dr Linda Watts gives talks to various historical societies and residents associations, whilst our marketing trustee Sally Helvey includes retirement homes in her list of venues.
Taking the Cleveland Pools to those who can't necessarily pay a visit, is a good way of spreading awareness about the project, being able to illustrate what has been before, and also in finding former swimmers. Volunteer film-maker David Hallett is putting together an archive on the Pools and has done myriad interviews with Sally's help which are now on our own YouTube channel.
If anyone can recommend a club or group who would enjoy one of these talks, or who may wish to be filmed sharing their memories of the Pools, please get in touch with Sally@ClevelandPools.org.uk or ring her on 01225 313699.
